SST (Serum Separator)

Also Acceptable Collection Container: 
Red (No Additive)

Collection Information: 
Collect 5.0 mL of whole blood into a serum separator tube (preferred). This test requires it's own collection tube (sharing between departments is NOT acceptable).

Transport Information: 
Allow tube to clot for 30 minutes and then centrifuge and refrigerate. DO NOT SPIN RED TOP TUBES if received unspun. PRA testing requires its own specimen separate and cannot be shared with other laboratory sections.  Send original tube.

Minimum Sample Volume: 
3.0 mL

Unacceptable Conditions: 
Aliquot, unlabeled or mislabeled samples will be rejected. HLA will determine specimen acceptability for reasons other than unlabeled/mislabeled.
