Collection Information:
Preferred Collection Method - Collect an entire 24-hour urine output in a jug with 20.0 mL of 6M hydrochloric acid (50%) as a preservative. Label the jug as hazardous.
Acceptable Collection Method - Refrigerate urine specimen during and after collection.
Specimens collected between 22-26 hours will be accepted as 24 hour specimens. Anything less than 22 hours or greater than 26 hours will be ordered as a "Random" specimen and should include a Period and Volume measurement.
Transport Information:
Transfer from a well mixed 24 hour collection 20.0 mL of urine into a plastic transport vial or a clean, plastic aliquot container with no metal cap or glued insert. Aliquots must be labeled with the twenty-four hour volume. Also acceptable to submit entire 24 hour collection jug.
