Intended use of this testing is to aid in the diagnosis of disseminated HSV infection, including disseminated disease in neonates due to HSV. Tests for Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) 1 & 2.

Lavender (EDTA)

Collection Information:

Collect blood in a Lavender (EDTA).

Transport Information:

Send 1.0 mL of whole blood in original tube. Do NOT centrifuge or aliquot. Send refrigerated.

Minimum Sample Volume: Minimum amount of analytical sample (serum, plasma, urine, CSF, etc.) required to perform an assay once. Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (Quantity Not Sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
