Interpretive Data: 

If positive, this test will automatically reflex to the RPR confirmation (RPRCNF) assay.

If the RPR is positive, it will be titered.

If the RPR is negative,  an order for the Syphilis Antibody, Treponema pallidum Particle Agglutination, Serum (TPPA) will be ordered reflexively.

All positive results are reported to the State of Iowa Department of Public Health.

Collection Information: 
Collect 1.0 mL of blood in red top or serum separator tube. 

Transport Information: 
Send 0.5 mL of serum refrigerated in a transport vial.

Minimum Sample Volume: 
0.25 mL of serum (approximately 0.5 mL of blood based upon a normal patient's hematocrit)

Remarks: 
Avoid hemolysis

Unacceptable Conditions: 
Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.
