Collection Information: 
Collect 1.0 - 3.0 mL of whole blood in a dark green with green stripes on label sodium heparin tube (preferred); lavender EDTA and green lithium heparin tubes are acceptable.

Transport Information: 
Spin down and send 0.5 mL of heparinized or EDTA plasma frozen.

Minimum Sample Volume: 
0.2 mL of plasma (approximately 0.5 mL of whole blood depending on a normal patient hematocrit)

This assay reports quantitative values for Total Carnitine, Free Carnitine and Acylcarnitine.
